Fresh Air and Sunshine is food! The power behind the underrated but potent vitamins!
We all must have wondered once in life what can be useful and healthy behind the food we eat every day.
Wellness and health are more than just eating well. We always have to consider the whole cycle, and some of the essential things we can take for our wellbeing are available to us every day.
We can find these valuable “supplements” all around. They don’t cost a dime and especially are accessible anytime.
I’m talking about Nature, Fresh Air, and Sunshine.
I called them supplements because, in reality, they are vital vitamins for our system. We are so conditioned to think that vitamins are something manufactured and labeled in a lab to find on the shelves and purchase them. We forget to open our eyes to look and understand what’s available around us. We can discover vitamins simple in Nature, in our food as in our environment.
Three essential Vitamins you can find around:
1. Vitamin N = Nature
2. Vitamin FA = Fresh Air
3. Vitamin S = Sunshine
Did you know that instead of exploring the great outdoors an average of people spends most of their time stuck in offices and dark living rooms?
Even kids today spend 7 hours more on academics and 2 hours on sports and outdoor activities per week than they did 20 years ago.
Well, unfortunately, all of this indoor living is devastating to our health.
For instance, nowadays a lot of kids develop ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) which is a medical condition that caused differences in brain development and brain activity that affect attention, the ability to sit still, and self-control. ADHD can affect a child at school, at home, and in friendships.
Research shows that children who stay more in contact with Nature and get more fresh air and sunshine have lower stress levels, more success in school and fewer ADHD symptoms. Also for adults who exercise and socialize more in nature are happier people all around.
We all know that being more under the sunlight trigger our skin to produce vitamin D. Studies have always been associating the lack of this necessary vitamin with depression, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, osteoporosis, and cancer.
How to make sure you get enough vitamin D?
Be sure to get at least 15-20 minutes outside without sunscreen.
Sunscreen even if it has a low SPF, prohibit the body from making vitamin D by 95%.
So in light of all of this, it’s so important to spend time outside in Nature, getting fresh air and sunshine; these are primary forms of nourishment for our bodies.
How can I get more of this Vitamins?
. Make mandatory plans. Having a routine that will lead you outside is something you want to do continuously. Such as a run, go to the beach, having a picnic out, take the time for a walk or a run with your bike.
. To avoid the typical 3 pm slump, take 10-15 minutes to walk outside and drink fresh air instead of coffee.
. Nourish your soul. Find a great spot in your community to catch the sunrise or the sunset. You will get fresh air while getting in contact with nature and see spectacular things.
. Organize a Neighborhood Cleanup. Get friends and neighbors together to go and clean up a city block or a beach. It will be a fun occasion to spend time with the people you love while taking care of the environment.
. Fun activities. Gardening is just an example, getting your hands in the dirt is good for you. There is a strain of bacterium in soil that has been found to trigger the release of serotonin which elevates mood and decrease anxiety. Remember when you were a kid how happy you were while digging deep in the dirt!
These were just some easy example to get your outdoor Vitamins, but you can get creative and do whatever thing you like. You need to bring your self out to enjoy these benefits available to you everytime you want.
